AJ Ghent @ An Evening with AJ Ghent & His Singing Guitar
An Evening with AJ Ghent & His Singing Guitar live at Eddie's Attic!
Welcome to the World of Ghent [ j-ent ]
AJ is breaking down walls and inspiring us all to look at music and life a little differently. AJ’s uniquely inspired Singing Guitar has its roots in the Sacred Steel musical style and AfricanAmerican gospel traditions that developed out of a group of Pentecostal churches across the South. AJ’s great Uncle Willie Eason was the founder of the “Sacred Steel” rhythmic guitar style, his grandfather (Henry Nelson) played the sacred steel guitar and so did his father ( Aubrey Ghent Sr.) – Johns Creek Lifestyle Magazine June 2021. Aubrey Ghent Jr., professionally known as A.J. Ghent [ j-ent ], also known and billed as AJ Ghent [ j-ent ] & His Singing Guitar, is a 3rd generation singer, songwriter, producer, and slide guitar, lap, and pedal steel guitar player.
AJ creates healing sounds that take listeners on a nostalgic melodic safari, painted with iridescent rhythmic patterns, led by the soulful melodies of his Singing Guitar, which is often compared to the voices and stylings of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Prince.
With constant viral Tik Tok videos garnering millions of views, AJ is fulfilling his goal of reaching the world with the healing sounds of his Singing Guitar.
AJ is working tirelessly to preserve his family heirloom, the “Sacred Steel” sound which dates to the 1930s. Starting at the age of 12 years old, the self-taught Ghent has poured countless hours into perfecting his craft, listening to old tapes of his grandfather Henry Nelson, and his father, Aubrey Ghent Sr.
Over the years, Ghent has shared music on major tours in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, and more. AJ is featured on the Starbucks Nation of US campaign, promoted in Starbucks locations nationwide, and on their official Spotify Playlist. His uplifting anthem “Power” was hand-picked by the creators of the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones, for the show’s official Spotify Playlist. The playlist revealed how the highly anticipated last season would end through the songs selected.
Ghent’s debut studio album, The Neo Blues Project (March 2018) debuted at #7 on the Blues Billboard Charts and is filled with everything that it should be: grooves, riffs, and above all, message.
In May 2019, AJ released his viral album, AJ Ghent Presents: Let the Guitar Sing (Live at
American Sushi). The song, and album title, “Let the Guitar Sing” was met with rave reviews around the world and has become an anthem of wellness for thousands.
This live studio album is an experience of AJ, his Singing Guitar, and his band, filled with passion and musical healing sounds.
His latest creation, Healing Soundwaves was released in November 2022 and is an instrumental album featuring AJ’s popular Singing Guitar, with hints of Ghent’s soulful voice throughout. This album has become another viral fan favorite.
Following his family tradition, AJ can make his guitar sound like a voice singing a melody. AJ and his Singing Guitar have reached millions worldwide through viral videos.
